Tee Heights

5–7 min station
Teaches

Adjusting her swing to pitches at different heights — high strike, middle strike, low strike — so she's not a one-height hitter.

Bring ● Bat ● Tee ● Softball
Setup
  • Set the tee at three heights across the drill: knees, belt, chest.
  • Start with belt height — her comfort zone — for 5 swings.
  • Then do 5 at knee height, then 5 at chest height.
How it works
  1. At BELT height: normal level swing.
  2. At KNEE height: she bends her knees a little more and keeps the bat on a plane through the low ball.
  3. At CHEST height: stand a touch taller and swing through the top of the zone.
  4. Her stance doesn't change — her knees, hips, and bat path do.
  5. End by mixing heights in random order. She calls the height before she swings.
Watch for
  • Knees bend for the low pitch instead of dropping the bat.
  • Head stays level across all three heights — no bobbing up and down.
  • Contact point stays in front of her, not over the plate, at every height.
What to say
Let your knees do the work.
Head stays the same.
Stay in front of the ball.
Clean contact — nice adjustment.
High-five moments
  • Solid contact at all three heights.
  • She bends her knees for the low one without a reminder.
  • She calls the height out loud before swinging.
Make it easier

Just alternate between belt and knee height. Skip chest until she's comfy. Two heights is plenty to build the habit.

Level it up

Random call — you name a height right before she swings, and she has to adjust in 1 second. Decision speed + contact.

Key cue
“Bend, don't drop.”
